UCLH is delighted to announce the appointment of Tessa Green CBE as its new chair.

Tessa will be taking up the role on 1 October 2026 when UCLH’s current chair Baroness Julia Neuberger completes her term, after more than seven years in the role. Read more

Tessa brings significant leadership experience in healthcare, having previously served as chair of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Tessa originally qualified as a barrister and has extensive experience in the charitable and commercial sectors.

"I am honoured to be stepping into the role of chair of UCLH,” said Tessa. “This is an exciting period as UCLH prepares to launch a refreshed strategy, and it’s a pivotal time for the NHS as it implements the ambitions of the government’s 10-Year Plan.

“I’m looking forward to working with colleagues across the organisation who do an incredible job of caring for more than one million patients a year and to collaborating with partners to improve the health of the wider population that UCLH serves.”

UCLH chief executive David Probert said:

UCLH’s Council of Governors approved Tessa’s appointment following an extensive recruitment process. Diarmid Ogilvy, chair of the appointment panel and stakeholder governor, said:

She brings a wealth of experience as an NHS chair and is extremely committed to patient care and staff wellbeing.
